My boss sold me his old rc truck, so i have spent the past week completely tearing it down, cleaning and rebuilding, finally its almost back in 1 piece, with any luck tomarrow i will hopefully have it running.
It came with a few upgrades like aluminum shocks, a tuned pipe, and an upgraded steering servo. Unfortunately it was totally filthy, and suffered from being crashed way to many times.

This is where i was at this afternoon, right after I realized I needed to make a trip to work for some shims for the clutch.

I got it running today, took me a while to get it running right, stupid glow engines are a pain in the ass to tune. Although part of it was probably my fault as well, as the new fuel line i put on it has a smaller inner diameter so i think it was causing it to starve for fuel and stall at full throttle, so I just cleaned out and reused the old fuel line, after a couple small ajustments i had it going. Went for a spin in the alley.
hahaha what an awesome toy, its loud and smokes and spews oil and fuel everywhere and kicks up dust and dirt and its fast! All the neighbours were leaning over the fence to see what the hell was going on, it just barely lifts the front tires off the ground right now, but I have yet to start tuning it for more performance. All i have to do is punch the throttle and I can toss it into a sideways slide lengthwise down the alley. It also does awesome donuts, and shoots up a big dust cloud in the process. Handles suprizingly well for a monster truck too, although i did roll it 2 or 3 times (partially on purpose)

I like that!! Far better than those stupid RC cars!! I remember when I took my course in Tire technology, one guy did that anmd I went with him to a 'race'. Kind of retarded really as they weren't realistic in the least. Really like an arcadey video game as they ran what? 300 miles per hours in scale?

I was actually disappointed as I expected there to be more of an effort to recreate a real race like RC planes and boats are more real, ya know?

So, can this thing actually "off road"? :getmecoatr:

yeah i dont really get rc racing, guys take it waaaaaay to seriously, its just toy, but to some it seems to be a lifestyle or something.

these arent my videos, but yes it is absolutely designed to go offroad

all you have to do is type in savage x on youtube and it seems everybody feels the obligation to make a video of them beating the crap out of their truck, and then put it to crappy music before throwing it up on youtube for the whole world to see.

I was showing off today, i need to take this thing to a park or large field or something. my alley is flooded in a bunch of places. Anyways it was running really good, it would stand up on the back bumper and if i punched the throttle it would backflip. I couldnt really get any good high speed runs in cause the stupid alley is flooded. I accidentally splashed in one puddle, kept going for a while, then I plowed it right into a nice deep puddle, because i had an audience i figure ah whatever ill just plow through it and deal with the consequences later. Well i didnt realize how deep the puddle was, the poor thing was almost completely submerged, water flying everywhere, i had it pinned and it was struggling, engine bogging, finally it flew out, did a wheely, and i made a couple more passes, but the clutch was so wet it wouldnt engage anymore so playtime was over.
I started ripping it apart immediately, water everywhere, it looks like the electronics only got splashed a little bit, so im really hoping they are ok, i dried everything out real good and tested them later on and they still seem to work. Im kind of worried about the engine too, I took the air filter off cause it was filthy and squeezed it and filthy water poured everywhere. Everythings been dried out, i have it ripped apart again, its a mess so now I get to reclean everything again.
Oh well it was totally worth it.
