During the winter there are some indoor rc flying events here, ive been attending them for a bit now and watching other peoples flying, and occasionally getting some stick time myself on someone elses plane. Finally last week parkzones new ultra micro j3 cub came, so i had to buy one, ive only flown it twice so far, once as a test flight in the street, where the batterys didnt last very long, and then i flew it at the golf dome at one of the events which was a lot of fun, tomarrow i will try and remember to get pictures of mine (mine has battle damage and i did a little detailing) The battle damage wasnt my fault though, I let my boss fly it at the golf dome, and he got in a mid air collision and knocked some of the paint off, popped the landing gear out, and knocked off the left side dummy engine. But thats ok because later on in the night he let me fly his sukoi and i tore the landing gear off and messed up the rudder.

Normally im not into the whole ready to fly thing, I have a tiger moth kit to build, which has around a 35" wing span, but at the moment i dont have any time or space to work on it, and i still wont be able to afford the electronics I need to get it flying. I could care less if this cub gets trashed, we have foam safe CA, and a full line of parts so it can easily be repaired in a half hour or less.

We have been selling quite a few of these, and i wasnt happy going to flying events and seeing the same plane as mine, that and leaving things "as is" from the factory doesnt appeal much to me, so on friday i broke this thing down, got out my airbrush...and well not quite finished with it yet, but stay tuned for pictures within the next couple days after i get it back together.

ok so here is an update, ive been converting mine over to an L-4, also added some needed details such as wing struts made from carbon fiber, and some detailing on the dummy engine. I still have more detailing to do as it will always be a work in progress, also i have some ultra micro p-51 decals on order for it, which have the US markings, but just my luck they arent due until late april, which is exactly when the indoor flying ends, so i guess it will just have to be unmarked. I expected all the tape and paint and such to really bog it down, but i took it to work today and weighed it and its only 4 grams more than the stock cub.

didnt get a succesful flight in on this on friday, the rudder and elevator were all dicked up, and instead of replacing them before i painted them i just tried patching them up, which didnt hold, oh well, replaced them tonight but i havent bothered to paint them, ill bring it to work tomarrow if its not windy and do a test flight to make sure everything is ok. I did get to fly my bosses sukhoi and P-51 though so the evening wasnt a total loss, i got to say im real impressed with the p-51, i think its got a top speed of around 25-30 mph, which for an ultra micro indoor flyer (although it has enough power to be flown outdoors) is pretty insane, I was trying to stall it, had it going completely verticle full throttle, and it just kept climbing like nothing.
